Finding classification
Every finding is classified by severity.
- Immediate Safety Issue
A condition observed that may present an immediate safety concern and should be addressed according to applicable site safety procedures before normal operation continues where appropriate.
- Critical
A serious condition with significant potential to affect equipment reliability, operation, or damage risk and requiring prompt attention.
- High Priority
A developing issue that should be planned for correction in the near term.
- Recommended
A maintenance or improvement item that should be considered during planned maintenance.
- Monitor
A condition that does not currently require corrective work but should be checked during future inspections.
- Normal
No significant concern identified during the inspected condition.
Classifications are based on conditions observed during the inspection and are intended to support maintenance planning and communication. They do not replace customer safety programs, engineering analysis, legally required inspections, machine guarding, interlocks, Lockout/Tagout requirements, manufacturer instructions, or site-specific safety procedures.

- What does a conveyor PM inspection look for?
- Belt or chain condition and tracking, roller and bearing condition, tension and take-up settings, sprocket and drive wear, motor and gearbox condition, lubrication, fasteners and frame condition, guarding integrity, and photoeye or sensor alignment and cleanliness. Findings are documented with a classification and a recommendation.
- When should equipment be inspected?
- Inspection frequency depends on equipment type, operating hours, duty cycle, environment, manufacturer recommendations, equipment history, and facility needs. Rudd Solutions works with customers to develop an appropriate inspection approach based on the equipment and requested scope.
- How are inspection findings prioritized?
- Each finding is classified as Immediate Safety Issue, Critical, High Priority, Recommended, Monitor, or Normal so maintenance teams can plan corrective work by urgency.
- Does a PM program include repairs?
- Preventive-maintenance inspections identify and document observed equipment conditions. Repairs, parts, corrective work, and scheduling are confirmed separately unless specifically included in the customer's approved PM scope.
