Safety

Safety Is Part of the Work

Service work begins with a review of site and equipment safety conditions. The topics below describe how Rudd Solutions approaches safety during field service, inspection, and troubleshooting.

Practices

Safety Topics Covered in the Field

These practices apply to Rudd Solutions' own service activities and are coordinated with each customer's safety program.

Lockout/Tagout

Energy-isolation procedures are followed before work that requires equipment to be de-energized. Lockout/tagout is coordinated with the customer's own program and authorized employees.

Machine guarding

Guards and protective devices are treated as required equipment, not obstacles. Guards removed for service are reinstalled and verified before equipment is returned to operation.

Stored energy

Gravity, tension, pressure, spring, and capacitor energy are identified and controlled before work begins — not just electrical disconnect.

Electrical hazards

Electrical troubleshooting is approached with appropriate test practices and PPE. Work that legally requires a licensed electrician or another licensed trade is identified as such and referred accordingly.

PPE

Personal protective equipment is selected for the task and the site, and site-specific PPE requirements are followed while on customer property.

Fall hazards

Where work involves elevated surfaces, platforms, or ladders, fall hazards are assessed and controlled in line with site requirements before work proceeds.

Customer site requirements

Site orientations, permits, escort rules, and customer safety programs are followed as a condition of working on site.

Safe troubleshooting

Diagnostic work is planned so that observation and testing are performed without defeating safeguards. Interlocks and safety devices are never jumped out as a shortcut.

Stop-work mindset

When conditions are unsafe — missing guarding, uncontrolled energy, unexpected hazards — work stops and the condition is raised with the customer before proceeding.

Boundaries

Safeguards and Licensed Work

Rudd Solutions does not recommend bypassing or defeating machine safeguards, interlocks, guards, or required energy-control procedures.

Some work legally requires licensed trades — for example certain electrical, refrigeration, or structural work. Where a task falls into that category, it is identified as such, and Rudd Solutions does not present troubleshooting or maintenance support as a substitute for licensed work.

Safety-related observations made during service or inspections are documented and communicated, but they do not replace the customer's own safety program, engineering analysis, or legally required inspections.
